  • Pre-School Classes

Cambridge Gymnastics Academy provides a variety of stimulating and fun sessions for children from 6 weeks to 4.5 years old. Each week is themed and we start with a group warm up to music using hand apparatus. We rotate around 4 pieces of apparatus which alters each week. Then we come back altogether for a group cool down. Each half-term we focus on the same skills. This allows the gymnast to build on progressions each week and perfect the skills being learnt. Gymnastics is the foundation of any sport and our pre-school programme helps to develop the children's confidence, strength, flexibility, balance, co-ordination and fine and gross motor skills.

This is followed by free following rotations around the apparatus, encouraging baby to balance, crawl, walk and roll. The session concludes with a cool down to music with positive touch. This is your special time with your baby, so the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting.

  • Development and Elite

    Development and Elite

These squads are selected by experienced coaches following an initial trial.  The gymnasts are chosen because they demonstrate natural physical requirements and have potential to train further. Once in the squad they will be following a training program designed to improve flexibility, strength and co-ordination.

The development phase is from 4.5-7 years, where they train up to 7 hours a week. Once they start training in the year they turn 8, their hours increase to 9-11 per week, this is when they start competing. Regular attendance is very important for gymnasts in these squads, as they need to be fully dedicated from a young age.

Children training in these squads will be invited to represent Cambridge Gymnastics Academy at county, regional and national competitions.
