A 1 hour class for boys working on the proficiency awards scheme, roughly 7-10 years.
This is the perfect class for any young school aged child seeking to have fun and learn gymnastics along the way. Rough age range is 7-10 years. The one hour session comprises of a warm up, rotation around the men’s apparatus (floor & vault every week, bars, p bars, rings and pommel every other week), cool down and appraisal. Each week gymnasts work towards their British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards. These awards start at level 8, down to 1, then Bronze, Silver and Gold. This is designed to give the gymnast progression and a sense of achievement. They are split into beginner, badges 8 down to 5, which take a term to pass. Intermediate, badges 4 down to 1 which roughly take 2 terms to pass and Advanced badges are on Bronze, Silver and Gold and each level comprises of different badges for example vault, apparatus and floor are just a few. It generally takes a year to pass each advanced level. Once the gymnast has successfully performed the skills necessary on their badge, then the following term they will move onto the next level. A presentation of awards is held on the last week of term.
